Vegas Heat, Steak and Computers

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Over the past couple of weeks Vegas sure has gotten hot.  I had forgotten how hot it gets during the summers here.  Ohh well once I get a job I think it will be time to fix the AC unit in my car since it doesn’t seem to work anymore.
Ryan was here over the last week and I wish my luck was as god as his.  Seems that he had a lucky streak as he was up around $1000 during the time he was here. Even though I haven’t won like that in a long time, he still treated us to nice steak dinner at Claim Jumpers.
I have started to plan out my new fileserver setup.  Mainly I have a dual 1ghz machine with 4gig of ram that I am going t put in pace as the fie server, and then take the d fileserver and make it a MythTv frontend for my bedroom…  Lets see how well this ends up working out.

California Lotto Tickets in Nevada…

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

>????????to what people might say or think, you can NOT get California Lotto tickets in Primm. Primm is right on the border of California but it is part of Nevada, so dont waste your time driving there in attempts to get tickets to the California Lotto. Baker is probably the safest bet if you wish to do so.

Seven things

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

I have come across some of these 10 things that you need, should see etc.  I started thinking and I came up with a small list of my own.  So with out further adieu I present to you the seven things I think you need to have in your home when having house guests or entertaining people. (I’m not smart enough to think of 10)

Q-Tip1. Q-Tip brand Q-Tips.  The off brand just suck and either come apart when using them or just don’t allow proper usage.

2. Martini Shaker - Even if you don’t make Martini’s they are still nice to have to chill shots and they make a nice counter decoration.
3.  Large music collection - If at all possible setup XMBC to stream all of your MP3’s to your Stereo/TV.  And don’t stick to one genre of music, unless all of your friends are carbon copies of you they might enjoy other types of music.  So just make it all available.

4. Movie Collection - This kind of goes along with #3.  I myself like a lot of horrible B movies, but I still have a decent collection of Comedy, Drama, Action etc.  You never know what people are going to want to watch, and if you have a variety on hand then chances are they will be pleased.

5. Spare computer - I don’t usually like people using my laptop, so I make sure to have a spare computer setup and locked down for guest to use if they feel the need to check their email or browse a few site.

Dirty Bathroom6. Extra Towels - If you have ever stayed at someones house and end up taking a shower only to find out there have a lack of towels since they only have one for themselves and then one on the floor that they use for a bath mat, then you know it sucks when towels are not made available.

7. Games - While most of us have outgrown playing Operation or hungry hungry hippos its still nice to have some games on hand.  Also if at all possible just have a game system or two hooked up.

Thats really all I could come up with.  Am I leaving something out that you think is a must have item in the house hold for when you have company?

Hellraiser Series

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Over the last couple of days I have been watching the Hellraiser movies. For you that have not seen them, well I was going to say you are missing out… but that is hardly the case. The first Hellraiser movie is for sure a cult classic of sorts, but the others seem to fall short. I was reading IMDB and came across information about a remake of the original. Why must hollywood do this?? I mean just give it a rest. The year 2008 seems to be the year of remakes. Not only are they redoing this movie but once again redoing the Hulk movie too. Granted the Hulk movie should hold up a little better since it does have Edward Norton, but I am sure the CGI will make everything look horrible.

Whole lot of nothing…

I have really been slacking on site updates, mainly because I have been avoiding my computer in all ways possible besides my daily visits to Craigslist.  Even with that I have yet to land a job, but it has still been a blast in Vegas non the less.
My days have been occupied with applying for jobs, interviews and countless rounds of disc golf.  I have been working on some site designs for a few clients to bid the time as well.
As for this site I am have had a few design ideas in mind, yet I have not really wanted to take the time to work on it and push through the ideas I have in mind.
This weekend a friend from Michigan is coming to Vegas and then taking a drive to California, I might hitch a ride so I can work on my tan at the beach…  If I do I hope to add some photos since I have been slacking on that.
Anyways there is an update to occupy your time for a few until I get around to a full update.  Good day.
